POETRY : Surrounding Ourselves by Maxwell Keyen
If I built a bed for
two, would we lay face to face. Surrounding ourselves with an embrace, would we
Match the space.
If I went to school for
two, would we sit side by side. Surrounding ourselves with knowledge, would we
Match the test.
If I went on trips for
two, would we site map on maps. Surrounding ourselves with passengers, would we
Match the good-byes.
Certain of how my
desire may be, would you say I'm overwhelming. Surrounding ourselves with good tunes,
would we Match the blues.
Uncertain of where to begin,
if we hold each other hostage. Surrounding ourselves with questions, would we
try enough for answers.
Before its too late, what
happens on a rainy day. Surrounding ourselves with tears, would we try enough for
a colourful rainbow.
O Here's something
beautiful, you're still here. Surrounding ourselves with all of our flaws and glory,
would we let faith decide our fate and story.
